I have a doubt about this sentence: Shouldn't it be "butcher for trim" instead of "butcher to trim"? I was thinking in the difference between ask and ask for.

The sentence "I asked the butcher for trim all the fat off of the meat." is incorrect. The current version is fine. "Ask for" cannot be used with an infinitive, (at least as far as I know, off the top of my head; a sentence like "I asked the butcher for some meat." however, is correct.)
