Nowadays, I guess this would sound old-fashioned and pompous to most people. (Is the Japanese translation 19th-century Japanese?)

The Japanese translation is not too old-fashioned, but it was an expression(汚名をそそぐ) that I didn't hear very often. So I asked if I could put it new translations or not.
