To someone who reads Japanese: Please confirm whether "team in the cellar" refers to wine making, or an unsuccessful sports team on the bottom of the list.
Could you explain more in details how this idiom is used ? Is it very colloquial ? neutral ? This would let me choose the French translation which fits best.
@qdii. I would consider it to be sportsjargon. I found a sentence: " He took a team in the cellar of the MAC (read: cellar of college football) and turned it into conference champions by his third season ..."
A team in the cellar also is an idiom in German.
