"Due to the crisis" isn't totally the same as "desde que hay crisis" : the latter only implies that both events occured at the same time, when the former states that one is the outcome of the other.
¿Me explico? :)

"desde que" would be translated into English as "since" which implies a certain cause and effect relationship between the two events. "Due to" can be a synonym for "since", and sounds more natural in the sentence. To guard a more direct translation you could say, "Management has even cut back on toilet paper since the crisis."

Your remark makes perfect sense to me :)
If you consider both sentences equivalent, would you mind changing for the second one ? I'd then be able to link it with the French one :)
