How does "memimoi" work? I've never found a good explanation for this.
Well, this is how I understand it. The Lojban grammar contains a rule that says that (ME <sumti> MEhO MOI) is a tanru. I consider {me mi} as the seltau and {moi} as the tertau.
Since {moi} as the place structure "x1 is nth among x2" , {memimoi} should have the place structure "x1 is the me-ish nth among x2". The first "me-ish" I can think of is possession and hence, {memimoi} means that "x1 is my nth (thing) among x2".
... Not sure if I have just messed up things more :)
Okay, thanks. :-)
I was mainly confused because I've seen tijlan use it without "me" (which doesn't even parse), which was causing me to think that "mi" was working like a number...
