You cannot translate sentences because you did not add any language in your profile.
I don't think 包丁をする減らした is grammatical.
tommy_san, I fixed the typo, but if there's a more natural translation you're thinking of, I'd like to see one.

The English isn't a great example either.
Assuming tommy_san doesn't think the Japnese is a great example, I'd personally suggest deleting both of them, I think. (I personally decided the English wasn't good enough to adopt.)
It's easy enough for native speakers to create good example sentences.
I don't see much sense in bending over backwards to maintain bad sentence examples.
