Hello!
1) Please " । " at the end of the sentence, instead of a point.
2) Is बूड़े correct for 'old' or should it be or बूढ़ा ?
@sabretou, I don't know whether thevikas is listening, but I have the same question as Tamy. This sentence seems to be the only use of this word in Tatoeba.
Yes, it should be बूढ़े.
As a side-note to the first comment, I don't think "।" as a replacement for the full stop is a consensus in Hindi usage. While it is the 'official' punctuation taught in school and used most frequently, I have seen several modern publications prefer the Latin full stop instead, most prominently of them BBC Hindi.
I would say the full stop feels 'cleaner', but I am biased as a Marathi native speaker. :P I do appreciate the character that "।" brings to Hindi though, and so I always prefer that when typing in Hindi!
Thanks.
Interesting on the full stop thing. I personally think | would be better in all languages, including English. As long as you're using the horizontal real estate for the period, why not make it taller and more obvious? Especially since it creates confusion with other uses of periods - elipses, abbreviations etc. (See what I did there?)
It should be बूड़े or the sentence would change to use बूढ़ा. Though बूड़े is not as respectable in this sentence. Maybe like calling someone old record.
About the dots they come even on top of word lines like अंत and a full stop on the line above will be confusing.
I cannot see any dictionary evidence of बूड़ा being a word in Hindi. Surely it is spelled as बूढ़ा?
you are right. sorry about my error there in the comments. बूढ़ा बूढ़े are correct. there is a very slight pronunciation diff in ड and ढ.
