"allows one to..." sounds better than just "allows to..."
Also, I would probably say "determine" instead of "confirm" here.
@slomox - there is surely past form in French sentence, it's also quite strange for me, unless it's some kind of grammar form which I don't know. If it is so, please correct me.

I don't speak French, I just noticed that the English sentence was off. If I send the French sentence through Google autotranslate it says: "A scan has confirmed that his leg was actually broken."
If that's the meaning, "was" is of course better, but then the first part of the sentence also needs to be in the past.
How it's possible I missed that... you are absofuckinglutely right. There is, indeed, also past form in first part. Changed.
