I've always thought psychiatrists are medical doctors who are experts in mental health. But what mental disorders have to do with eating disorders?
At least two eating disorders, anorexia nervosa and bulimia, seem to have a mental-illness component. It's quite possible that a psychiatrist might have some insight into managing or treating such eating disorders. I see nothing wrong with CK's sentence.
