En Esperanto, oni diras "prefere" anstaŭ franc-idiotisma "pli bone". Temas pri Esperanto, ne pri la franca. Esperanto ne estas la franca !

Yes, it's better for you to come, rather than dying, but it's not a question of preference at all.
To translate this sentence by "Vi prefere venu kun ni" is actually wrong. It's to translate an idiom into another based on the wrong interpretation of "better" which is merely idiomatic.
As you said, it's better not dying. So you got the concept... 🙄🤷♂️
La frazo nun estas akceptebla.
I changed it to entirely get rid of the euphemisms (maybe...better...) which shouldn't be translated at all in esperanto.
