1. I think it is useful to have several variations of the same meaning. I actually wish it were the case in the languages I learn.

2. As long as the technical solution highlighted to separate the same-language links, I am kind of against, as they already should appear in the indirect translations. Once it's available, I think it would be a nice addition.

I'm not sure some of the options in advanced search are working as intended. The one I have in mind is the "exclude sentences" one.

I wanted sentences in Swedish without translations in French (any type of link). I received the sentence 1433364, that is indirectly linked to the English 511978, itself (directly) linked to the French 1742035.

Is it a bug, or because that a third-order link (link of a link of a link)?

Even so, there is still a large part of choosing the languages that is subjective. If we compare Swedish and Quechua for instance, they have about the same number of native speakers (more or less 10 million people). Swedish is very much alive, and present everywhere online (although there aren't any active contributor currently on tatoeba), whereas Quechua is slowly getting crushed by Spanish, for different reasons, and its native speakers are unlikely to have access to a computer, even less to understand how it works.

I tend to agree with your arguments, especially after some truly terrible sentences were added to French (from a bot, and from a well-known "team"), but I don't think there is a clear line between a positive and a negative contribution.

Of particular interest, I think that the community activities/challenges were motivating. I mean the days when members had to create lists, adopt orphan sentences, etc. does anyone know why it was stopped?

So the recover password function works well.

Email addresses with a "+" sign are refused when registering. That's a shame, as it is a very nice functionality for many email providers.

Otherwise, I tried registering another account, to finally test the functionality, and that seems to be working flawlessly.

Somehow, now, my username and email address are already taken. I guess some part of the process went through last time. However, I cannot connect with my usual password, and the "recover password" function does not seem to work, as I don't receive any email, even in the spam folder.

Good that I tried, since it does not seem to be working. I am redirected to the same page (https://dev.tatoeba.org/eng/users/register), without any error message, but with the "we need to make sure you are human" field empty and the "terms of use" checkbox unchecked.

I tried many times, so I am fairly confident it's not a human error. Firefox v64.0.

Yes, that turned out to be quite easy to program. Be careful when you connect to the website, there are a few hidden parameters that you need to give to the page, but they all are visible in the source code.

I've done it in python, with the "requests" module. "BeautifulSoup" could help too, but you can do it without it. Even with my terrible python skills, it was not very hard.
