** Tatoeba Day #12 **
Tatoeba Day starts now and as usual will end in 24 hours!
If you don't know what Tatoeba Day is about, you can find information about it here:
http://en.wiki.tatoeba.org/arti...ow/tatoeba-day
# Improving usability and user experience
This Tatoeba Day and the next ones will be focused on improving the usability and user experience of Tatoeba.
The first goal is to gather information about the parts of Tatoeba that are difficult to understand for new users, and to understand why they are difficult so that we can find a good solution.
For this, I will need feedbacks from you.
1. Feedback from users who are already familiar with Tatoeba
This will be more relevant if you have discovered Tatoeba recently: try to remember the first times you tried to use the website. What did you try to do, and what did you have trouble with? Was there something that you expected to work in a certain way, but it worked completly differently from your expectations?
Send me your feedback by private message:
http://tatoeba.org/eng/private_...es/write/TRANG
2. Feedback from users who are completely new to Tatoeba
For this, I will need volunteers to conduct basic tests.
The idea is that you ask a few people around you (family, friends, colleagues) to use Tatoeba for a short session (maybe 10 minutes). They will be your testers.
You will be sitting next to them, and you will be watching them use the website. While they use the website, they should explain to you what they are trying to do. You will take notes on what they are doing.
You don't need to be an expert in Tatoeba, but you do need to be familiar with the website so that you can take relevant notes.
If you are interested in this task and have found testers, then please use this form:

(Suggestions to improve this form are welcome)
# Requests
For those who are familiar with Tatoeba Days, you can still make requests, like the previous Tatoeba Days. But your requests should remain around the theme of "how do we make Tatoeba easier for new users".
# Testing the editable transcriptions
We will be releasing soon the "editable transcriptions" feature[1].
We will need as many people as possible to go to the dev website (https://dev.tatoeba.org) and test this feature, as well as everything else to make sure that nothing broke.

Thank you for your participation and happy Tatoeba Day!
first request: https://github.com/Tatoeba/tatoeba2/issues/782
title: Make the Initial post of a topic a bold font in the "Latest messages" list.
Voilà. You can see the result on the dev website: https://dev.tatoeba.org/jpn/wall/index
thanks gillux.

+1 it would be useful when browsing on the home page and users see a wall post that might interest them
second request: https://github.com/Tatoeba/tatoeba2/issues/195
title: State up front what a username can contain
I updated the ticket - https://github.com/Tatoeba/tato...ent-160241633.
That's done. You can check it on the dev website.
1st request - https://github.com/Tatoeba/tatoeba2/issues/793
"New users have to add their native or strongest language when register"
That's done. You can test it on the dev website.
2nd request - https://github.com/Tatoeba/tatoeba2/issues/795
"Redirect new users to Quick Start Guide instead of the Home page"
I have commented on this issue in GitHub.
I can't add a transcription to any Russian sentence, it seems the feature doesn't work. I checked also Ukrainian and Serbian, they don't have such a feature either.
Only Chinese and Japanese have editable transcriptions so far, and only on dev.tatoeba.org.
Selena, they might be implemented next week. - https://github.com/Tatoeba/tato...nes/2015-12-02
As Wezel said, only Japanese and Chinese have editable transcriptions so far. Of course, it’s just a starting point, and the whole point is to add more transcriptions in the future. See also this wiki article about adding new transcriptions: http://en.wiki.tatoeba.org/arti...ption-request.
Why cannot the automatic transcription of Japanese be edited when adding translation? It shows incorrect at least once, maybe for nonstandard only: for one I added it says "o me e no shin yaku wo te koki shita" but it should be "omee no shinyaku o tebanakishita", it is such a wrong detection for this context. By the way, is it legal to add a nonstandard dialect translation? I ask because I added nonstandard dialect translations, I hope it is ok. If not, please feel good to remove them!
> Why cannot the automatic transcription of Japanese be edited when adding translation?
It’s not available on tatoeba.org yet, but we’re about to make it available soon. For the moment, you need to use http://dev.tatoeba.org/ to test that feature.
> By the way, is it legal to add a nonstandard dialect translation?
Yes. You may left a comment on the sentence page to give more details about that.
Hi, glad to meet you all!
Well, this is my first request ever - https://github.com/Tatoeba/tatoeba2/issues/896 .
Tatoeba Day is now over!
Tatoeba will be updated on December 2nd, and will include the following fixes and improvements:
https://github.com/Tatoeba/tato...nes/2015-12-02
The update will require to shut down Tatoeba for a few hours.
Thank you to everyone who sent me feedback about usability! If you have more feedback to send me after Tatoeba Day, please do. This is an ongoing effort that will continue during the next Tatoeba Days.
Also, if you have time until the next Tatoeba update, please drop onto our dev website (https://dev.tatoeba.org) and simply test as many things as you can.
Thanks again for your participation.

Yes, this is a known bug.
That's a very interesting tool for those who want to learn a foreign language. I would like to know if there's app at apple store so I could send some audios.
