Hey fellow translators,

I wonder whether there is a good way to ask for help when you can't translate something or when you have come up with some translation but looking for an alternative or a better one.

For example, I can't come up with a good Ukrainian translation for "inside joke". I did tranlate it in some way:

https://tatoeba.org/eng/sentences/show/5757106

But I want to know what others think. I usually just leave a comment below my sentence, but those comments are kind of not very visible in general.

What I think I'm going to do is to tag this and similar sentences with some tag (say, @helpmeplease or something) and leave a link to the list of all those sentences in my profile. I believe it's better than just leaving a comment below your own sentences, but maybe you can think of evenbetter ways to ask for other translators opinions?

Address them in your comment. Example:

@name_1, @name_2, ..., @name_n,
Do you have any better ideas about how to phrase this?

Or try to send them a private message.

Well, messaging and even tagging a specific person seems too intrusive to my liking.

They are your colleagues and friends. We are also a community. When I have a question, I usually pick someone whom I can ask. ☺

You could try to introduce a new tag for this purpose, but chances are no one is going to check the sentences thus tagged very often. The most efficient way is always to ask someone personally.

Thank you, what you say does make a lot of sense.
