I was just thinking aloud. I wonder if Japanese would prefer 「母」 talking about his own mom.

Hi, I'm native Japanese.
「母」is more formal.
「お母さん」is more colloquial, and we feel more love with this word.
In this sentence, I see the word "Mom/mum" in English translation.
So, 「お母さん」is better.
I would be happy if my opinion become a help.
