
I've got the feeling that "crash", here is improper, because something like a plane or a car may crash on a bridge but I can't see how a bridge would crash since it is not moving. Got crashed ? Maybe I'm wrong.

I agree, the original was "The bridge went under the pressure." which sounds like a stodgy (but better than the current) translation of the Japanese.
Searching for "bridge crashed under" only really returns results for website probably using the Tanaka/Tatoeba corpus as examples.

And more natural examples with "crashed" would be "crashed into the ground" or "crashed down on to pedestrians" rather than break down.
