    Spoken by an English public school teacher of Greek literature to his class when a student noted that the playwright was “grammatically incorrect” — when compared to North and Hillard’s venerable Greek Prose Composition.

    North and Hillard were two 19th century clergymen who had written books on Greek and Latin prose composition that had proven so popular that they were taken as prescriptive by many, much to the frustration of said teacher.
