I changed my sentence at the request of our Russian friends.

Strictly speaking, Snowflake and Ray of Light are the mascots of the Paralympics as far as I’ve understood. ‘Sochi’ chould be understood as an abbreviation for both the Winter Olympics and the Winter Paralympics held there. ☺

Watcha gonna do? ☺

Lisa is right. What about "The Sochi-2014 official mascots"?

Since Marina and I are so far the only translators of the sentence, I suppose we could still change it any way we like without too much ado. We could, for example, just mention the Paralympics to be precise (‘The official mascots of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics are ... while those of the respective Winter Paralympics are two aliens ...’ — something like this in proper English). This is, of course, just an idea.

It seems very good to me if we can mention Olympics and Paralympics in this sentence

You could say "Sochi Games" (means both Olimpic and Paralimpic) or something like that.
