I am a new member and am starting with the objective of learning Spanish. I realize the focus of this project is not to learn but to contribute. Maybe I will get to that point one day. Today, I am looking for advice.

I am at an early stage of learning spanish. I have completed a Spanish course using Duolingo, have been translating very simple sentences, listen to Spanish music, and learned a little bit of conjugation rules. I am now focusing on gaining skill in sentence translation from English to Spanish. Given that most of Spanish speaking individuals in the United States (that's where I live) are from Latin America as opposed to Spain, I am interested in learning Spanish spoken in Latin America. I started using this site but realized that translations here are a mix of Spanish spoken in Latin America and Spain. Mixing the two versions will make it difficult to learn. Any suggestions on how I can gain skill in this sentence translation are greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
Satish

Hi!

It's recommended that you translate into your native language on Tatoeba. The point is that many non-native contributions are bad or have mistakes so they are not trustworthy enough.

> I am interested in learning Spanish spoken in Latin America

Then you should focus on translating the sentences of our Latin American contributors. Look at this page https://tatoeba.org/eng/users/for_language/spa
and check the profiles (for example, the country of senryakun is Mexico so you can be sure it's Latin American Spanish)
If you want to focus on translating from Chilean Spanish, for example, you could use this link
