We're planning some maintenance on November 29th (Saturday), in preparation of the deduplication script. Tatoeba will be unavailable for perhaps one or two hours. Perhaps more, perhaps less, I don't have an exact idea.

I will need as many translations as possible of the maintenance page (sentence #3649128), which will look more or less like this: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.c...intenance.html

Thank you!

PS: If anyone feels inspired to design a better maintenance page, go ahead.

Maybe it's too late, but I'd suggest adding "due to maintenance". It would be better if visitors can know that there's no unexpected error taking place. Otherwise they might think Tatoeba would be down for weeks again.

We could indeed have separated pages for planned downtimes due to maintenance and unexpected failure. This one is good for failures: #3398684.

With the way things are implemented at the moment there is no difference between a scheduled maintenance, and the server having unexpected problems. It's the same page that will be displayed in both situations. That's why the text is more generic for now.

I agree it would be much better to have custom pages for each case and it's not difficult to change it technically. What takes more time is to design the pages, decide what text to put in it, and have people translate it.

The previous maintenance page, that we haven't used for years (literally), looked like this: http://prntscr.com/57jw7w
What I like in that page is that we suggest things that users can do while the site is off. But it was not possible to use it because there is too much text, and that means more work to do, to be able to provide a maintenance page that is translated in several languages.

The server will (hopefully) not be down very often so it's not very high priority to spend more time on this task. But if anyone has some knowledge with HTML/CSS/Javascript, and is interested in this task, then feel free to design specific pages for maintenance, for server errors, also for "404 not found". That will save me several hours that I can spend to improve other things :)
