as said, yet this information is stored nowhere except in the session which is not accessible from everywhere, so yes we could do this but that will require additional code , to store/retrieve it which does not exists yet.

sysko sysko November 20, 2012 November 20, 2012 at 10:58:06 AM UTC link پرمالنک

Hello Sadhen, your code will be more than welcomed and for sure we'll be very happy to help you in any way we can, i should also be quite free during the winter festival.

sysko sysko November 20, 2012 November 20, 2012 at 10:56:24 AM UTC link پرمالنک

I the current Tatoeba code, no, as we've nowhere stored what is your mother/list of prefered languages (as when the mail is generated you're maybe not connected on the website, and even so, the only 'session' available in the code, is the one of the user who has triggered the action)

In the next tatoeba that will be easier to do as we will have a dedicated set of fields in which users will be able to enter these information in a computable way

about the new version I think in a week or so I'll be able to release a wiki made on the same base code of the new tatoeba, to have a "real condition" test of this new base of code without risking to harm the main service. (I will give more details about this in some days)

je vais m'occuper de faire les rappels nécessaires, si par la suite tu remarques d'autres 'manquement aux réglèments' tu peux me les signaler par message privé et je ferai ce que je jugerai nécessaire

sysko sysko November 15, 2012 November 15, 2012 at 12:26:50 PM UTC link پرمالنک

corrected, thanks to have reported it.

sysko sysko November 14, 2012 November 14, 2012 at 12:39:23 PM UTC link پرمالنک

I've added 500 more esperanto audio recording from Marcelo Stöckle

A big thank you to him

I've been a little busy but well after 10 days has nobody objected, I'm going to make Duran a corpus maintener, congratulation to him

sysko sysko November 5, 2012 November 5, 2012 at 1:07:13 PM UTC link پرمالنک

I think rather than voting we should have a way qualify the link to know why there's two , three or more translation

as said "voting" is not for me a good idea

let's consider

J'aime cette couleur
I like this colour
I like this color

You're going to vote on what? Here there's no "best" or more likely translation, it's all depend if you want UK or USA spelling

second

我一个人
Je suis célibataire I'm single (no boyfriend/girlfriend) (can be both said by a guy or a girl)
Je suis seul I'm alone (in this room/ to do this) (guy)
Je suis seule I'm alone (in this room/ to do this) (girl)

which is more likely? with 50% of girl and 50% of guy in the world that can be both single
The "likeliness to be the good translation" make sense when you take 1 and only 1 referential, the one of the user trying to find a translation for his situation, and you can't vote that for him

Instead as said at the beginning if you put

我一个人
---[with 一个人 taken as "having no boyfriend/no girlfriend"] --->I'm single
---[with 一个人 taken as "having nobody else around you"] --> I'm alone

other example (for which I don't have time to find couple of sentences)

sentence A ---[given "verb" is understood with it's colloquial meaning]-->sentence B
sentence C ---[when saying it with a sarcastic voice]----> sentence D
sentence E ---[when being in a classroom] ---> sentence E
Then providing this the user is able to "compute" himself the "likeliness", this "likeliness" is too volatile and subjectif and contextual to be hardcoded as 1 value for everyone

Note that the new version permit already to do this i.e adding "annotation" on links

I think that's best we can do for people dealing with "among multiple translations in the same language, which one to choose"

I like this color

maybe putting them in one post?

##Corpus maintener candidature: Duran##

As you may know, in order to make the promotion to corpus maintener more transparent, I ask there for the opinion in other and if after one weeks no big reason "against" has been arised, then I will promote him

So if nobody has something against Duran becoming a corpus maintener, I will promote him

sysko sysko November 2, 2012 November 2, 2012 at 11:13:11 AM UTC link پرمالنک

Yes there's just no link in the interface to the page, one must know the exact URL

sysko sysko November 2, 2012 November 2, 2012 at 7:17:00 AM UTC link پرمالنک

and as long you're the author (or have the authorization)

We'll be happy to share with you how to say this or that in our languages.

sysko sysko November 2, 2012 November 2, 2012 at 1:30:12 AM UTC link پرمالنک

Hello

You can send me an email to team@tatoeba.org , administrators and corpus mainteners have access to tools for massive import like this

if you have the sentences in a excel or in a text file like this

english sentences[tab]german sentences

It will be easy for me to import them

sysko sysko October 31, 2012 October 31, 2012 at 1:16:09 AM UTC link پرمالنک

damn it! I've just seen it and I was like "hehehe maybe nobody has noticed it, I will be the first to post"

sysko sysko October 31, 2012 October 31, 2012 at 12:08:54 AM UTC link پرمالنک

And also Nimfeo is now advanced contributor

sysko sysko October 30, 2012 October 30, 2012 at 11:59:58 PM UTC link پرمالنک

The following users are now "advanced contributors"

Herssilen
Tamy
Marafon
Sharptoothed

A big thanks to them for their contributions.

By the way if I've missed some wall messages about people willing to become advanced contributors, just put it there as an answer to this message

If you also want or know some people who can be corpus maintener

sysko sysko October 27, 2012 October 27, 2012 at 1:03:37 PM UTC link پرمالنک

Your guess is right

From now we generate "on the fly" the furigana (same for Chinese and PInyin etc.) , i.e everytime the sentence is displayed so yet the furigana is stored nowhere.

In the future it will be stored so that it would be possible to edit manually it

After by adding between the "stupid" software and the "human editing" a layer of "machine learning" (that derivate some rules from what the human always correct) it may be possible to decrease the need of human editing

sysko sysko October 16, 2012 October 16, 2012 at 12:00:07 PM UTC link پرمالنک

The "autodetect" is working again

sysko sysko October 7, 2012 October 7, 2012 at 12:40:46 PM UTC link پرمالنک

Can you share with us the script you use to generate these files, from times to times i received by email this kind of request (but most of the it's not english-other_language but virtually any couple of languages) so it may be useful to have this script :)

sysko sysko September 22, 2012 September 22, 2012 at 12:13:49 AM UTC link پرمالنک

can i have the iso code of it please
