No; it's a state. Similarly, you can't say "I had a pneumonia", it's just "I had pneumonia."

I think the other way around “I had concussion” sounds unnatural in my dialect so I’m relinking the alternate translation.

I see the issue. It’s different between American English and Commonwealth English. In American English it’s a countable noun.

I guess CE treats it as a state of illness (indeed like pneumonia or fever) while AmE treats it as an injury (like a bruise). Concussion is/causes a kind of brain bruise, after all.
