I'm a little curious about the change of 捕まって to 掴まって. All my dictionaries, both JJ and JE, give 捕まる as the primary form of the verb, and the Google WWW n-grams show it is by far the most common form:
捕まる 253005
掴まる 11623
For the それに捕まって case, 掴まって catches up but is still marginally less common:
それに掴まって 281
それに捕まって 313
Is there a particular nuance that led you to make the change?
FWIW the all-kana form is the most common:
それにつかまって 960

それぞれの意味は、以下のようになります。

::
【捕まる】:捕らえられる。捕まえられる。逮捕される。
例:動物が捕まる。犯人が捕まる。
【掴まる】:手でしっかりと握る。 ※常用漢字外(not a common kanji)
例:電車のつり革に掴まる。
::

この文では、「捕まる」ではなくて「掴まる」の方がいいと思いました。
ひらがなの「つかまる」が多いのは「掴まる」が常用漢字外だからだと思います。
常用漢字外を使わない方がいいようでしたら、「ひらがな」に変えることもできますので、お知らせください。説明をお付けせずすみませんでした。

Thank you for the very detailed explanation. I should have checked more thoroughly before raising it, as I see that the "to hold on to; to grasp" sense of つかまる is indeed associated more with 掴まる and because 掴 is a non-常用漢字 it is usually written in kana.
We have 58 sentences using つかまる and of the 10 for this hold/grasp sense 9 use kana. This one is the only one with kanji, so it's a good idea to stick with 掴まって for at least one of them.
Thanks again.

Thank you, too.
