Remember that things might be correct in another dialect of English, or used to be correct and commonly-used. TRANG wants us to keep archaic English, too.

I had checked ngrams and hadn't found any uses that weren't either preceded by "as", "as still as still", or weren't followed by "can be" or "could be", or weren't just different uses entirely interspersed with punctuation eg "He was still. As still as a..."
However, after your comment I looked through more and found one reference from a book in 1968, so i guess it has been used then.
At least maybe somebody could add an English translation?
