I want to make sure my translation of this is correct. How about: "As a result of the use of ultra-light materials, we estimate that approximately half of our products are now extremely light."
This is a sentence in an advertisement, referring to one specific product, and saying that it's about half as heavy as the products made by the same company before.
It would also be nice if you could translate "新", which appeals the product takes advantage of new technology.
Thanks (context helps a lot.) How about "As a result of new ultra-light materials, our product now only weighs about half as much!".
That's far from 直訳, but what an equivalent advertisement might say in English.
Very good, but that's a translation of "〔……〕従来の約半分という圧倒的な軽さを実現！", isn't it?
I think "当社比" is used to avoid being interpreted as a comparative advertising. I'm not very sure about it though....
Well, since it's an internal comparison, how about "As a result of new ultra-light materials, our product now only weighs about half as much as before!". That stops it being 比較広告.
It'll be fine if you don't have anything equivalent.
We also often see "当社比" as a note with a 米印 in extremely small letters. Isn't there something like that in English ads?
Thanks. I don't think there is a direct equivalent.
