as about the only google results out of the 13 I found are pointing to dictionaries that use the Tanaka corpus I think we can safely say it's not used.
I suggest relinking sentences to "our project failed".

This is a grammatical English sentence. Someone could say it, but probably nobody does.
It's an exact semantic match for "Our project collapsed."
Hoho: it reads like a translation of that into Basic English.

"Fell through" is a perfect match to "провалился."
