The German translation is clearly wrong,since "every other day" is not the same as every day.
In addition, the doctor is not an ordinary visitor. He comes to her bedside when he makes his rounds. In that context, the German term is "die Visite", a noun you wouldn't use with reference to friends and relations who come to see the patients.
I suggest either of these two versions:
Der Arzt sieht jeden zweiten Tag nach ihr.
Der Arzt macht jeden zweiten Tag bei ihr Visite.
