This English sentence purports to be a translation of the Japanese 114341;
but it does not appear to translate the part that says "was coming"
「来ていました」
I tried to adopt it and correct it, but it wouldn't let me.

You have to 'adopt' the sentence before you can change it. Click the second icon to do that.

However it doesn't mean "was coming" it means "has come". I think the English is within the 意訳 range anyway.

I wrote: "I tried to adopt it..."
I _did_ adopt it first; but every time I tried to save it, it reverted.

I thought the tenses were as follows:

来ます
He comes

来ています
He is coming

来ました
He came, he has come

来ていました
He was coming

What am I missing?

来ている is used to mean the state of being there, similar to 結婚している,

Thank you for that link, it explains it very well.

it was a bug, but it's corrected now :)
