whatever that means...I suggest this might be a very literal translation from the Japanese...

On the contrary, it looks like a very liberal translation.

@TC[jpn]: Is “damn” an appropriate translation for 当り散らす here, and is the “right and left” implied?

"right and left" means "all over the place" or "a lot". When I read this sentence, I imagined an angry captain running around his ship cursing at everyone.

How come each time I question a sentence, it immediately becomes the property of Zifre?

Because I see your comment on the homepage, go to the sentence, see that it is undaptopted, and adopt it. You have a problem with that?

I find it weird, yes...

@sacredceltic: It's a fairly common practice and encouraged. Please adopt sentences that you see are correct.

@Zifre: What I wanted to ask was whether the “right and left” is also implied in the Japanese sentence. 当り散らす just means to find fault with everyone, right? The English sentence sort of implies that this is done indiscriminately, this character dishing out (groundless) criticisms. Does the Japanese do so, too, or does it just describe someone who's (unnecessarily or unreasonably) harsh?

I do all the time. I just don't specifically choose sentences that are under scrutiny.

@Zifre and Nero: Are you guys responding to the translation check request, or just making general comments on the sentence?
