This wording doesn't feel completely natural to me, especially the "ooh-er"; could I maybe suggest something like "Even though I've just been lazing around without even touching my work, on the inside I'm thinking "oh no, am I really not going to get it done in time?"

I'm not advanced in Japanese, so I'm not totally sure of the connotations; maybe the present progressive would be better?
