Ist "from Kansai" hier im Englischen eine natürliche Ausdrucksweise, oder sollte man "from the Kansai region" sagen? Es handelt sich nämlich nicht um einen Ort, sondern um eine Region.
Solltest Du als Amerikaner Dich vielleicht besser an die Schreibweise "Mr. Itsumi" halten?
In this case, I'd rather unadopt the sentence (which I didn't write) than change it. Indeed, "Mr" without the period is a British spelling. As for whether to use "the X region" or "X", that choice depends on the region in question: we say "Appalachia" rather than "the Appalachia region", for instance. I don't know how English speakers in Japan refer to that area.
In America, I would say "I'm from the Northwest" and not "the Northwest region", although "Kansai region" sounds valid.
