Zonder context is deze zin een beetje lastig te vertalen, maar ik zou eerder "het ligt" of "het staat" zeggen, afhankelijk van wat er ligt of staat. :)

Inderdaad, maar dat mag je er dan zelf bijfantaseren, als het maar een *mogelijke* vertaling is die klinkt zoals een moedertaalspreker het zou zeggen. :)
