Is it really vulgar?
"Hell" is a bad word?
I'm not sure of the conventions for using the vulgar tag. The sentence is not something you would say in polite company (in front of a boss, your mother-in-law, etc), that's for sure. The word hell as it applies to the location (You'll go to hell) isn't impolite, but using it for emphasis like it's used in that sentence is.
On the vulgarity continuum, I'd say it falls between heck (something you say if you're trying not to say something impolite) and the f-word, as we call it. Although WTF (or the actual f-word) are not at all uncommon these days.
My credentials: Native English speaker who talks like a sailor and is old.
