This one seems a little strange to me.

Here are a few I think native speakers would more likely use.

[#448963] It's snowing. (CK) *audio*
[#6260407] It snows a lot where I'm from. (CK)
[#6702148] It snows more here than it does in Boston. (CK)

Agree with CK - We don't say it as a sentence like this on its own in English, just the way @CK shows above. I don't think I have enough cred here to delete this sentence yet though.

Why did you adopt this?

Adopting an orphan sentence is like giving the sentence your stamp of approval.

It's grammatically correct, but perhaps you may want to release this sentence, so you don't mislead students of English.
