Doesn't Pan mean mister? So it should either say Pani instead of Pan, or Mister instead of Missus.

Nope. POL sentence is a translation od the JAP one. Japanese has さん, which is gender-neutral. By convention, I put all translations in masculine forms, that's why 'pan' ('mister') is more appropriate here. Of course 'pani' would be a proper translation of the ENG sentence. Feel free to add it.
