Can you tell me the difference between "preface" and "foreword"?
In German, both are "Vorwort".

A preface is an introduction to a book written by the author.
A foreword is an introductory essay written by someone other than the author.

The Oxford Dictionary makes no distinction between a preface and a foreword. I just translated a book that had a foreword written by the author. We may have to investigate further:)
