When you say this to someone else, you mean that you are glad to see them go away because you don't like them here. It is quite a rude phrase, apparently.

И зря, потому что riddance не от слова ride - езда, а от слова rid - избавляться; то есть буквально "хорошее избавление" в смысле "счастливы (от тебя) избавиться". Так что тут словарь дал промашку.
