Es esta estructura en particular se incluye al sujeto en el recuento, como si fuera literalmente "(en la familia de )mi padre son 5 hermanos". Aquí lo explica un nativo:

En japonés, como en otras lenguas, hay diferentes formas de construir este tipo de expresiones.
Se pueden emplear fórmulas inclusivas (aquellas en las que el hablante forma parte del cómputo global): “Somos cinco hermanos.” (incluyéndome a mí, somos cinco en total) = 「私は五人兄弟です。」, o también se pueden utilizar fórmulas no inclusivas (aquellas en las que el hablante no se incluye en el cálculo): “Tengo cuatro hermanos.” (además de mí, hay otros cuatro) = 「私は四人兄弟います。」
Es cierto, por otro lado, que en japonés se prefiere el uso de las fórmulas inclusivas. Por esa misma razón, la traducción de la frase japonesa original, de tipo inclusivo en este caso: 「父は５人兄弟です。」, quizá se correspondería mejor en español con una expresión del tipo: “Con mi padre son cinco hermanos.” / “En la familia de mi padre son cinco hermanos.”, que con la construcción utilizada: “Mi padre tiene cuatro hermanos.”

I suspect that this Japanese should be unlinked.

I don't know about the Japanese sentence right now but the English sentences "My father has five siblings." and "My father has five brothers." should clearly be unlinked. The Spanish sentence means that they are 5 siblings/brothers altogether (i.e. including my father)

Then, the Japanese is OK.

I guess these 2 sentences with "4" which were edited by AlanF_US were OK then. I don't think it's possible to revert these edits since Horus deleted them as sentences were merged.

I'd suggest just unlinking both English sentences.

Agreed, the English sentences say there are six siblings total.

I added an English sentence that might fit better, if it is natural.
