Feature request: Sentence requests
I am not sure how we could realize this, but often I come across a new word in Japanese, and I do not find any sentences about it. Trying to google for example sentences is really tough, because a lot of useless entries (headlines, etc.) pop up. On the other hand, I bet that a native speaker can come up with an example sentence easily. So maybe we could have something like a example sentence request for certain vocab for each (or at least for the major) languages. Thus, we could expand the corpus in a more meaningful way, filling the gaps which are still there.

Yet another feature request. Can we add several tags at a time? I.e. «familiar;said to female». It should be relatively easy to implement, but it can save some time and semicolons are very unlikely to appear in tags anyway.

yep we can think about this, but I will try to soon add autocompletion on tag, this will already ease a lot the processing of adding tags

I'm interested in which code you intend to use for autocompletion because I'm also looking for one for myself as well. Do you intend to use some kind of open source plugin ?

in fact for the autocompletion we will use a dedicated autocompletion software, it's a gpl project, created by the guy behing shtooka project (but for the moment released nowhere), so we will need to adapt it a few it into our code. So if you want while doing it for tatoeba, I can try to write a short tutorial of how set up it.

thanks for reporting, unfortunately I don't speak a single word of german, but google translate tell me it's about Jewish burning something like that, is it true, if yes I will delete it, I agree this kind of sentences shouldn't be present.

It was not written by a native German speaker, sounds rather like a machine translation. But I agree to sacredceltic, it is antisemitic and should be deleted as soon as possible.

Moderators and typos / simple mistakes

Just a quick reminder that moderators are not _allowed_ to fix simple mistakes, typos or (dare I mention it) punctuation and capitalisation in owned sentences without permission.

The guideline is that if a moderator points out a mistake and two weeks later the sentence's owner has not replied then they can edit the sentence themselves.

However you _can_ give Permission in Advance for moderators to fix basic mistakes in your sentences without waiting for you.

If it's essential that people participating in the Tatoeba Project breathe, why aren't they supplied with a medical ventilator?

Good idea, you must be breathless with all these dots and capital letters to constantly check everywhere !

sacredceltic sacredceltic July 29, 2010 July 29, 2010 at 9:07:45 PM UTC link Permalink

Si il est essentiel de mettre un point à la fin de chaque phrase, pourquoi ne pas prévoir un test qui l'ajoute automatiquement dans la transaction de validation après saisie de la phrase, ou tout au moins qui signale qu'un point est manquant ?

I cannot change my own sentences anymore? Does anybody know?

The possible reasons are:
1) you have let it go (clicked on the button above the sentence)
2) it has been merged (your sentence was already in the database, and the script has deleted your one and copied all the translations to the older one)
