Every now and then I run across Japanese words I want to see in examples but aren't in any right now (like 胃腸炎 and 寧ろ, just now). Is it even worth making example requests, and if so, where?
I'm not Japanese, and most of these words I don't know well, which is why I'm looking for examples in the first place, so I can't just write my own.
I think, the wall is a good place for example requests. Other option is to write a PM to any active Japanese member.
By the way, though it seems to be no examples with 寧ろ, there are enough sentences with むしろ. :-)
Ah, curses, I forgot to search with just the kana!
And, thank you.
I also think that asking on the wall is a great idea. Or even asking trusted native speakers in a private message. Same goes for translation of sentences that would be interesting to know or that someone would like to have in many languages. Those might seem partly like "playing around", but to be honest, I'd be happy to help someone translate some interesting sentences of theirs into the languages I know well (German, Esperanto, Klingon) or to provide example sentences with various different forms or meanings for words I am asked.
I think I'll write that hint into my profile. :)
I was thinking it'll be nice if there's a wishlist page, where you can ask for an example sentences using a particular word or phrase, or ask for the translation of a certain sentence into a certain language, and where you can visit and find what you can do as a native speaker.
Yes, I'd really like that and would often visit that page. I think this has already been suggested in the past...
