Another example:
Your son received an award for his contribution to society. At that time you would say.
I'm really glad you are my son.
I'm proud you are my son.

Maybe not. Maybe (2) is used when someone in a higher position says.
So, it's wrong for me to use it against Lisa, the admin, right? Thank you.

When applied to a feeling towards a person, "proud" can really only be used with particular kinds of relationships between relatives and close friends, but the pride can go in either direction: a parent can be proud of a child, and a child can be proud of a parent. As you figured out for yourself, "glad" is the better word in your sentences. :)
