imo, a good translation for this is
"Good job"
instead of
"Thanks"

I think this should be unliked from [#374827] (Thank you!) and [#1876041] (Thank you.) They are too vague to express exact meaning of this phrase.

I think "お疲れ様" is ambiguity. For example, we use it for our colleague when they leave office, and it means "Good bye" or "Good night".
It's like this; 「お先(に失礼します)」「お疲れ(様でした)」

I believe it could be used with the meaning of "thank you".
