needs native check

Scott Scott November 7, 2011 November 7, 2011 at 6:33:13 PM UTC link Permalink

I believe that it's incorrect.

bunbuku bunbuku November 7, 2011 November 7, 2011 at 6:47:52 PM UTC link Permalink

@saeb

I'm not sure what you mean, but looking at your English sentence, it would be ネオ神戸のピザで満たされたバスタブの中に彼女を沈めて殺した。...It's quite ridiculous, isn't it?

saeb saeb November 7, 2011 November 7, 2011 at 8:10:54 PM UTC link Permalink

oops seems like I misused almost every word in this sentence :/

@bunbuku
it's meant to be ridiculous^^

also, if it isn't too much to ask for:
-would 溺れさせて殺した work too or is 溺れる the wrong verb to use here
-and when or how would you use ~でいっぱいの~

bunbuku bunbuku November 8, 2011 November 8, 2011 at 12:32:24 AM UTC link Permalink

溺れさせて殺した is correct, but it's a little awkward to see here. I think it is supposed to be used for under water. So I used 沈める to kill her because she will be not able to breath in a tub filling with pizza.

~でいっぱいの~ is a kind of common and general word to describe "fill with". お湯でいっぱいのバスタブ、本でいっぱいの棚、予約でいっぱいの人気の店、小銭でいっぱいの財布、something like that.

Since "filled with pizza in a tub" is ridiculous, I would rather other words to describe that. Perhaps it might be better to use ピザでぱんぱんの, ピザでぎゅうぎゅうの to express "fill with pizza".

wow, thank you very much for the detailed explanation. I'll just add that "Neo Kobe pizza" is pizza in a soup, would that make 溺れる and ~でいっぱいの~ work since it's basically a liquid?

Scott Scott November 8, 2011 November 8, 2011 at 1:15:06 AM UTC link Permalink

Pizza in a soup? That sounds awful.

bunbuku bunbuku November 8, 2011 November 8, 2011 at 1:25:53 AM UTC link Permalink

Oh, I see. I googled and looked at "Neo Kobe pizza" images, now I got it why you made that sentence. :) I thought there are plenty of pizza sheets in a tub.

So I should assume there is the soup and a piece of pizza in a tub, right?

Probably ネオ神戸ピザとスープでいっぱいにしたバスタブの中で彼女を溺れさせて殺した。might be clear and better.

@Scott

I agree. ;)

saeb saeb November 8, 2011 November 8, 2011 at 1:33:08 AM UTC link Permalink

@bunbuku
thank you again, I hope you don't mind if I just leave out the soup bit...feeling like it defeats the purpose >.<

@scott
actually it tastes pretty good, you should give it a try :P

Scott Scott November 8, 2011 November 8, 2011 at 1:45:39 AM UTC link Permalink

It can't taste good, I'm sorry :)
