I think it was a mistranslation, in French "un argument" is a single idea you put in a debate to justify your point of view (so when you debate you will give a lot of "arguments" to explain/convince people )
(as the sentence seems to come from the import we've made years ago, I know they used to contain a lot of this kind of translation mistakes, where they think the word had the same meaning in both English and French though it's not.)
