Why is this sentence related to the sentence 'she has lost weight?'
It doesn't make much sense, so I think you might have mistakenly put it here.
Please delete this sentence.
It's not your sentence and it's also correct. I can unlink it from the German sentence.
But CK's comment seems to imply that the German sentence can have both meanings.
OK, unlink it.
The phone has nothing to do with her weight. . .
The German sentence can be understood to have both meanings, but without context one would usually not relate it to the telephone. I would even go so far as to say that when talking about 'her picking up the phone' it is an ellipsis for the unambiguous 'Sie nahm den Hörer ab' and therefore not a standard translation.
So as to avoid confusion, I would suggest disconnecting this sentence from the German one and adding as a new translation the sentence I just wrote.
The normal way to handle this would be to leave both sentences linked. Mr. Shoval, please remember sentences in gray are not direct translations, but only indirect ones.
And thanks for your explanation Pfirsichbaeumchen.
