CK, what kind of meal is being referred to in this sentence? Mid-day or evening?

Inego Inego May 14, 2014 May 14, 2014 at 10:38:41 AM UTC link Permalink

In Russian, there is no analogous word for this meal. Обед is the midday meal while ужин is the evening meal.

... as do the Turkish and Ukrainian translations. On the other hand, the German translation says "Mittagessen", literally "midday meal" :)

Oops!

Then do those who eat dinner mid-day eat supper in the evening, while those eating dinner in the evening eat lunch for the mid-day meal?
That's a mess...

In Deutschland sagt man:
Hauptsache: Es schmeckt.

Approximately: The most important thing: The meal tastes good.

Сделайте два перевода - обед и ужин - и нет проблем!

Главное - вкус, да? :)

(Только заметил, какой ровный номер у этого предложения! Какое совпадение!)

Уже сделали. Сейчас просто задушевная беседа идёт :)

"The meal tastes good."
Yeah. But doctors say, it's more healthy to have dinner in the midday.

Вопрос я задал вполне серьёзный, кстати: как называют обед те, для кого dinner - ужин, и наоборот, как называют ужин те, для кого dinner - обед? И никаких подтекстов.

Ooneykcall Ooneykcall May 14, 2014 May 14, 2014 at 2:59:15 PM UTC link Permalink

Завтрак съешь сам, обед раздели с другом, а ужин отдай врагу, так, Селена? :>

Inego Inego May 14, 2014 May 14, 2014 at 3:00:20 PM UTC link Permalink

Так вы же сами на свой вопрос и ответили! Причем правильно!
