"Please" doesn't seem to match the Japanese too well. Maybe a more polite version should be linked to the English?

Actually I think the なさい conveys "please". We have many なさい/please sentences.

I think the "please" and "nasai" pair is a match in this case, too.

To put it another way, "please" in English is often used when you might say "nasai" in Japanese.
