College or university?
Universities are a type of college. It would be strange to say "saving up to go to university" in English. (They're sometimes interchangeable, but not always.)
In Britain and Ireland, university is the most common name for third level institutions. So it would not be at all strange to say "saving up to go to university". College is usually an institution attended before university, or one that cannot award degrees, or that offers more vocational education.
Once again, fooled by my own native language. ;-)
