I agree that 'show me over' is unnatural here.

The 'Though he was ...' thing is a product of old-fashioned English in old Japanese text books.

# 疲れてはいたが、彼は仕事を続けた。 [T]
Though he was tired, he kept on working.
# 彼は忙しかったが、わざわざ市内を案内した。 [T]
Though he was busy, he took the trouble to show me over the city.
# 彼は貧しかったけれど、それにもかかわらず彼は幸せでした。 [T]
Though he was poor, he was none than less happy.
# 彼は貧しかったが、幸せだった。 [T]
Though he was poor, he was happy.
# 彼は疲れていたけれども、働くのをやめようとはしなかった。 [T]
