No. I think
"has gone out" なので、
父は、ポストカードを買いに行きました。
父は、ハガキを買いに行きました。
父は、ハガキを買いに出かけました。

"is going out" だと
父は、ポストカードを買いに行っています。
父は、ハガキを買いに行っています。
父は、ハガキを買いに出かけています。

この辺りかなと思います。

※「ハガキ」は、「はがき」でもいいと思うけど、文の中に入れると、ひらがなと混合してわかりにくいのでカタカナの「ハガキ」を使うといいと思います。

私の説明は、言葉足らず(不充分)だったように思います。追加させてください。

日本語「父は、ハガキを買いに出ていきます。」の意味は分かりますが、文脈(言い回し)が不自然です。私だったら「父は、ハガキを買いに出かけました。」にします。
