You could link them, although the Chinese doesn't have a subject. Basically, it could be an answer to "where are you going?", "where am I going?", "where is he/she going?", etc...
That's the same as the Japanese then.
It probably doesn't match the English "Go skiing in Hokkaido" very well - that's the sort of thing you might find in a dictionary, not real life.
No, I think it matches "Go skiing in Hokkaido" as well. It's literally go + Hokkaido + ski, so you can imagine the number of possible translations (probably the same as in Japanese).
But yea, I don't see anyone actually using this in real life except as a terse reply to a question.
